K-2012: Step 2
Step 2 of our Game Plan was to get flashcards.
This was a pretty easy task since I go get coupons every Sunday at the Dollar Tree. I grabbed both letter recognition cards and number recognition cards.
He gets to practice with Hubby or I almost every night. Hubby has really taken the lead on this, which is really nice.
In addition to flashcards, we have also downloaded a few more educational apps on the iPad. I really think we should delete some of the non-educational games that the Boy loves to play, but we haven’t taken that step yet.
We also try to play fun games while driving. One game we play is a counting game where everyone takes a turn saying the number that comes next. I try to plan it so the Boy is always the one stuck saying the number ’30′. On his assessment he lost 5 points for counting to 29, and refusing to say the number 30. If we do this counting game enough hopefully he won’t even think about being ornery and it will just roll off his tongue before he can stop himself.
A lot of our drive is country, so we don’t have billboards to hunt for letters or numbers on, which if we lived more in the city we would do.
Do you have any fun games to play in the vehicle?
