Welcome to our blog! Join us on the Journey to our (new) Home. We sold our house in May, 2010 and are on a journey to build a new home.
This blog is going to document our journey from selling one home, and trying to save money to actually build our next house. Along the way, hopefully we can make our temporary rental into a home as well!
My husband and I were married in 2003 and immediately started building our first home. We bought our house when it was merely a foundation. The first few months of our marriage consisted of picking out colors, flooring, appliances and fixtures. Oh, and visiting a construction site almost every day.
After deciding we wanted to be closer to family, we made the decision that we wanted to go through the building process again and get exactly what we want from our next home. We purchased land in rural Kansas, and we’re on our way.
We’ve recently sold our house and moved into the next stage of our grand plan: saving the money to start building our new home. We’re renting less than half the space we’re used to, and will be documenting our journey to building our new home.
Please join us on the Journey to our Home. I’ll be blogging about our construction plans, how we’re budgeting to pay off debt and at the same time saving for our future. I’m sure we’ll have some detours along the way- but as long as we reach our destination the detours make it worth the trip!
